A symbol
of trust

Banyan Equity was founded by Shelley and Aaron Nichols in 2010. They selected the banyan tree to represent the company because it has numerous similarities to Banyan Equity’s core values and culture.

A lasting
legacy

The species has been around since 325 B.C. when Alexander the Great first encountered it. Aaron and Shelley wanted to have longevity as a company, to create a place where employees could retire and would be sustainable for many years.

A heart for
healing

The banyan tree is a healing and life-giving tree. Its bark and leaves have been used through the centuries to heal many ailments. It also produces massive amounts of figs, providing food to various animals and bees that, in turn, repopulate other plants. Aaron and Shelley loved the thought that their company could be a place of healing and growth for employees and residents — whether they stay for a short while or for the long haul.

A powerful
perseverance

The banyan tree is the largest tree in the world in terms of area covered. It can survive hurricanes and all types of massive weather conditions. Lastly, Aaron and Shelley love the idea that no matter what, the company will survive. When the storms come — and they will — Banyan Equity will collectively come together to weather whatever comes our way.
